| Have you ever heard of a old Russian saying? "Have breakfast on your own, have lunch with your friends and leave dinner to your enemies." It prabably tells you how many meals you should have a day. According to the physiologists, having two meals (breakfast and lunch) is good for your health. Humans should have eat after they digest all the food they have taken. Usually, the food stays in your stomach for 6 or 8 hours. Thus, the interval between your two meals must be 8 or 10 hours. And having two meals a day is good for your stomach. Your stomach will have enough time to rest and prepare for digesting food again. What is the best dining habit? "Have breakfast between 7 and 10 o'clock in the morning and have lunch at least 6 hours later (about 13 or 15 o'clock in the afternoon). And humans can adjust themselves to the new dining habit. Generally, a person needs 3 months to adapt themselves to a new dining habit." The physiologist says. However, I find it is hard to change my habit (three meals a day). What about you? How many meals do you have everyday? |

| In the U.S. you will find that during the work week, breakfast is a very small meal and lunch (about noon time) is a small meal too. Supper or dinner when arriving back home from work is a bigger meal mostly because there is time to prepare a better meal. It is rare for a student or worker to go home for lunch. Most bring lunch with them or buy a meal at a cafeteria or fast food place (lunch is usually allocated 1/2 hour) and cold food is accepted. After dinner in the early evening many will have a small snack of some kind maybe while watching TV. Many look forward to the weekend when they can cook a nice breakfast instead of rushing. |
