Now, he is a celeb whom worldwide netizens tried to locate him. What made him known to the world is that his passport was found in the battlefield of South Ossetia. <<On August 28, 2008, Russian Colonel General Anatoly Nogovitsyn gave a news conference in Moscow where he produced a photocopy of an American passport with the name of Michael Lee White born in 1967 who lived in Texas.>> (Source: Wikipeadia) The key point is: Russia suspects that he is a spy working for CIA or other covert agencies. Not long ago, in an interview with CNN and a German TV station,Russian Prime Minister Vlamidir Putin said Russia had the evidences that American citizens and spies were involved in the South Ossetia Conflict. Putin’s conclusion is that “ someone orchestrated the South Ossetia Crisis.” Russian media’s prevailing attitudes: USA is the mastermind behind the Georgia-Russia conflicts. Bush Administration prodded its ally Georgia to launch the war against Russia attempting to help Republican candidate John McCain to show off his ability and experience in coping with the issue of international security, hence, helping John McCain outshine Obama and win the presidential election campaign. When the Wallstreet Journal located Mr Lee White and interviewed him in South China’s Guangdong Province, he said that he had never been to Georgia. He said that his passport was stolen during a flight from Moscow to New York in 2005 and that he had no idea how the passport ended up in South Ossetia. The incident has sparked a controversy. Some bloggers believe that CIA faked the passports. Is there a mastermind behind the South Ossetia Crisis? Is a secret agency imprudent enough to leave his passport behind?

About the passport, is that all the proof?

If there was Americans in Georgia what is wrong? After all Georgia is an independent country friendly to the USA.

Nothing is wrong with Russians in Cuba.

Leo, I read the the same news in Sina.com. PM Putin said in a CNN interview that “the passport gave him reason to suspect U.S. military involvement in the Russia-Georgia conflict over South Ossetia.”

Putin suspected Michael Lee White since Michael was a Veteran. Russia emphasized Michael's military experience. He served in the US army from 1992 to 1997.

I am John White, Michael Lee White's brother. He is a teacher and aspiring author. This Russian media lie (propaganda and hoax) is not helpful for his reputation. He was recently interviewed by the Russian state media and they fabricated that he was an instructor and officer. He MOS (job) in the army (over ten years ago) was being a petroleum specialist. He fueled helicopters. He also drove gas tankers in Bosnia.
