guest03163 Hi, I'm beginning to feel very bewildered. I'm trying to send some of my RMB salary to an account in Britiain. It seems i need to have 75,000 Yuan to even start the process, according to my bank anyway. Has anyone had any success transfering money at a fairly cheap rate? How did you do it?

I have done this before, but not for a while. You need to have a Chinese account which can have deposits in £'s as well as RMB (mine is with Bank of China). Firstly you need to convert the money into £'s (you'll get a nice exchange rate at present). Then you can transfer it to a UK account for a small fee. This can be anywhere between £8 - £25.

1 yuan to open it. I think it is a special account for foreigners because my bank book is all in English. My girlfriend set it up for me a long time ago.
