The closing ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games was held at the National Stadium on September 17, 2008.

China says goodbye to the Beijing 2008 Paralympics in an impressive way: “a shower of 600,000 red leaves, a lawn dotted with 360,000 flowers, a collection of 100,000 post cards, and a mute dialogue between a girl and a flame”

A collection of 100,000 postcards was a novel idea. The closing ceremony dubbed” A Letter to the Future” invited every athelete, spectator and journalist in the Bird’s Nest to write down their good wishes and blessings on a postcard.

London, the host city of the 2012 Paralympics, staged an eight-minute performance at Paralympics closing ceremony.

"These are the greatest Paralympic Games ever," said the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Philip Craven in his closing speech.

As the flame put out, China has finished its 40-day-mission to host the world since August 8th. The torch has been passed to London. It’s Britain’s turn!

The opening and closing ceremonies were great, but totally irrelevant. Of real importance were the fantastic achievements of the sportsmen winners and losers alike. Just one example of so many you might choose... cerebral palsey athletes who fell while racing, their minds willing their bodies to go beyond their ability to control them. Some had managed to gain greater control over wayward limbs while running than in walking and everday activity. Magnificent, heroic efforts in my view, tho many of them would probably deny it in thgeir modesty.

The Beijing orgaanising was excellent so that everyone was able to give their best. Pity about some of the rain though, but everyone got on with their tasks. Well done.

Double-deck bus again? I failed to watch the closing ceremony. What do you think of London's 8 minutes' performance at Paralympics? Seems people are not as picky as they commented on London 8 minutes' performance at the closing ceremony of Beijing Summer Olympics.
