As a foreigner living in China, I traveled to Tibet summer 2008. We need special permits in order to get into that region of China and although I like to walk, the government will not let me enter on foot. I must be in an organized tourgroup. I wonder when you will be heading there? I would love to go if I could figure out a way to get a permit. I have July / August off work as I am a teacher working in a University in Shanxi. Good luck to you (take lots of sunscreen with you and extra socks).
