Death Toll Rises to 40 in Islamabad Terror Attack

The death toll in a blast outside the Marriott of Pakistan's capital Islamabad has risen to 40 on Saturday, according to local media.

The blast happened at the hotel’s entrance when a lorry loaded with explosives was being checked by security guards and sniffer dogs.

At least 40 have been killed, 200 injured in the terror attack. The death toll is increasing.

The blast created a 6m(20ft) deep crater, and caused fires in various parts of the hotel’s
Building. Windows are smashed and the entire front section of the hotel was destroyed.

Marriott Hotel, which is a five-star hotel and a landmark building in the Pakistan capital. It is also the preferred hotel of visiting diplomats and businessmen in Islamabad.

The explosision (suspected suicide bombing) occured just hours after President Asif Ali Zardari vowed to firmly fight against terrorism and extremism while addressing a joint session of the parliament.
