![]() | Chinese cosmonauts smoothly land 28.09.2008, 14.42 BEIJING, September 28 (Itar-Tass) - The crew of the third Chinese manned spaceship Zhenzhou-7 have successfully completed their mission, during which the spacewalk, the first in the country’s history, was made by cosmonaut Zhai Zhigang. The return capsule of the spaceship smoothly landed on Sunday in the steppe of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Chinese Prime Minister Wan Jiabao watched the landing from the Beijing mission control centre. Central television reported during the landing operation that the cosmonauts’ feelings were good. The search group on cross-country vehicles is rushing to the landing place of the descent capsule. All this process is telecast alive. Shenzhou-7 blasted off from a cosmodrome in northwestern China. The spaceship was lifted off during the second stage of space explorations. The first stage included the launchings of manned spaceships Shenzhou-5 in 2003 and Zhenzhou-6 in 2005. China does not conceal its ambitions in space explorations. Beijing intends in future to dock spaceships, to create a laboratory in space and then to make its own space station in future. Shenzhou 7 landed in Inner Mongolia. ![]() |

![]() | Well done! I encourage the development of space travel and exploration! here in the U.S. it seems like all there is is talk, talk talk about going back to the Moon ( someday) building a viable space station (someday), building interplanetary travel ships in Earth orbit (someday) and a manned trip to Mars (again: someday). China's progress will carry on with the hopes and dreams of millions who were disappointed with the ending of past space programs. |
