| As an English teacher of more advanced years, I sometimes need help with explanation or modern colloquial usage. Guest said hottest girls and coolest guys. Why oppposites, hot/cool? Can they be used the other way round, I mean cool girls and hot men?? I also remember that in my youth, (well before pc's), if I said a 'bird' was cool, it meant she didn't have much enthusiasm for someone, but now it seems, it's cool to be cool, unless you are hot! ?????????? And I have twice made the misstake of saying to a young student wearing light clothes in the summer hest that she looked cool, and she thanked me! Aiya. |
