| Hi out there, Me and a mate from NZ are off touring china for a few weeks, and were wondering the best route to get from guilin to shaghai by train with a couple of stop offs on the way...are there any memorable spots anyone could suggest? and which trains to catch? cheers |

| 1, From Guilin to Fenghuang Town, Fenghuang Town is the most beautiful and peaceful town in China Train route, Guilin to Huaihua, train number, K651/K654, the time is 13:23 to 0:09.But it is mid-night when you arrive in Jishou, maybe you can choose the other train route, from Guilin to Liuzhou first, and then from Liuzhou to Jishou, and the good thing is, Lizhou has direct train to Jishou, there are so many trains from Guilin to Liuzhou, it needs 2 hours by train, from Liuzhou to Jishou, its train route is 2012,its time is 21:16 to 6:04. Fenghuang Town locates in Jishou, so you have to stop in Jishou train station, and then go to Fenghuang Town by bus. 2, From Fenghuang Town to Zhangjiajie, Zhangjiajie is National Forest Park in China Train route, Jishou to Zhangjiajie,train number K534/K535, the time is 11:39 to 13:24. Zhangjiajie locates in Hunan province, Hunan is near Guilin, Fenghuang Town is also locates in Hunan. And the spicy and hot food is really good in Hunan. 3, From Zhangjiajie to Wuhan, Wuhan locates in Hubei province, the next province to Hunan. Train route, Zhangjiajie to Wucheng, train number, K534/K535, the time is 13:49 to 19:04 4, From Wuhan to Hangzhou, every Chinese people knows that how Hangzhou beautiful is! Train route, Wucheng to Hangzhou, train number, K121/K124, the time is 20:50 to 09:00. 5, From Hangzhou to Nanjing, Nanjing locates in Jiangsu province, Nanjing is an old city, it is 6 dynasties’s capital in Chinese history. Train route, Hangzhou to Nanjing, train number, 1592/1593, time is 09:41 to 15:18 6, From Nanjing to Shanghai, train number, K187/K190, time is 11:46 to 16:44 |

| Nanjing isn't located in between Guilin and Shanghai. If you really want to do it all by train, I would suggest perhaps Guilin -- Guangzhou -- Wuhan -- Hangzhou -- Xitang -- Shanghai. |

| All the trains for Guilin -- Shanghai South (none go to Shanghai main train station) aren't that fast. There're 4 departures and they all take 22-24 hours, though none as long as 30 hours.
