According to the local news media, such pollution has kept occurring in the past two years. There are no convincing explanations about how the pollution happens. The local environment protection bureau said the pollution was caused by dirty black silt dredged up from the river bed after a power plant discharged the waste water into the upper reach. The pollution is extending. The local government’s explanation sounds not much convincing.
