| Due to the Financial Crisis in Wall Street, Marx’s Capital, which is a critical analysis of capitalism, gains its popularity among the western readers. Presently, the sale of the book has increased twice than that in 2005. German publishers estimated that Marx’s Capital will become a best Christmas gift. A number of young readers are becoming interested in Capital because the financial turmoil disillusions them with the neo-liberalism. In Germany, Marx’s influence is increasing. |

| Das Capital is in the Fantasy section of the bookstore because Mr. Marx is overlooking one aspect of human nature which is central to all people in all societies and all political / economic systems, which is that people are greedy. In any economic system that generates a surplus, you will find people who want to get their hands on it, and so the socialist mantra of an equitable distribution of said surplus sounds great, but never works. |

| Take a look at communist int'l song originated in France ( Music is beautiful). Mr. Marx encorages violent revolution for those without entitlements to gain the surplus and production tools. Greedy-Getting something/more for nothing is human natures. the ideology of equal distribution without contribution and one party dictatorship without opposites supervision has been proved failure in terms of approaches to social developement. But what will be like in 1000 years or longer, nobody knows. From macro economy point of view, for the long run, corp for profits have no surplus and its single utility is helping grow social wealth. Int'l Communist Song (France)with literal English translation from Wiki: Arise, you branded by a curse, You whole world of the starving and enslaved! Our indignant intellect boils, Ready to lead us into a fight to the death. We will destroy this world of violence Down to the foundations, and then We will build our new world. He who was nothing will become everything! No one will grant us deliverance, No God, no Tsar, no hero. We will win our liberation, With our very own hands. To throw down oppression with a skilled hand, To take back what is ours – Fire up the furnace and hammer boldly, while the iron is still hot! |: This will be the final and decisive battle. With the Internationale the human race will Only we, the workers of the world-wide Great army of labour, Have the right to own the land, But the parasites - never! And if the great thunder rolls Over the pack of dogs and executioners, For us, the sun will still Shine on with its fiery rays. |: This will be the final and decisive battle. With the Internationale the human race will arise. :| |

| COOLSPRINGS, can you sing the Int'l Communist Song? I can't sing the song. I heard from senior people that were taught to sing the Int'l Communist Song at primary schools? Now, the Int'l Communist Song is no longer a copmpulsory course in music class in China's primary schools. Karl Marx was a great thinker. Unfortunately, he lived on the edge of starvation for most of his life. |

| “Unfortunately, he lived on the edge of starvation for most of his life.” TIC, he never actually did an honest days labour in his life and sponged off of his wife and friends. Dodger. |

| I agree Dodger. One thing "great thinkers" have in common is that all their grand theories do not account for human nature. That, plus theories are only theories until actually tried in real life. Humans naturally compete, and humans are envious of those who have more and will strive to improve their lives. The grand and glorious visions of Marx turned to greedy piggish "communist capitalists" in the USSR under the Commissars and thuggish leaders. But China seems to have taken a different route and recent free enterprise ventures, coupled with a government that seems to be modernizing, may be the real-life working model that takes the best of several theories and pragmatically hammers out a workable solution. Only time will tell, however. |

| Guy, I am in working -class and a hard worker. The Int'l song is of flaming the fires and extremely appealing to those without entitlements on those old days. What I want to point out here is if the song writer, Karl Marx and his best friend Engels (the man, co-author of Communist Menifesto and Das Kapital is a capitalist and supported Karl Marx financially all the time) are in working-class. |

| COOLSPRINGS, does Engels count in the "working class"? He is a capitalist himself. |

| For my money there is no more convenient way to getting the news than the Wall Street Journal online. I am a big fan of the Wall Street Journal because it is an outstanding publication. So much more than just a paper about stocks, companies, and economics, the Wall Street Journal has some of the best Op Ed pieces I’ve ever read. It may be just about the least biased and most objective news publications that I have ever read. So many of the newspapers out there now seem to have their own political and social agendas.
