Hi there, next year i plan to travel to Xi'An alone for a bit more than 4 months. Plan to stay with relatives. This will be my 2nd time traveling to China. Some questions about L visa, what is my chance of getting a 6 months duration family visit L single entry visa. I don't really have the luxury of leaving and reentering china so a multiple/double entry visa is not an option for me. Additionally I 'd like to avoid the hassle of getting a visa extension at PSB if possible.

My question is what is the chance of getting a 6months (180day) single entry duration visa. (if possible 120day). I heard to qualify for a family visit visa you need some sort of notarized invitation letter from your family members but i heard its not necessary if you're born in china. (which i am, but i now carry Canadian citizenship). Can anyone with visa experience/expertise have more details on this? thanks a lot in advance.
