After being eliminated in the first round of Paris Masters, Safin seemed to be unconfident and disappointed in himself. If you watch his recent matches, you will understand why he decides to retire. He hasn't been in good form recently. His bad performance has disappointed him and that's why he chooses to retire. The former World No.1 and winner of two Grand Slams once promised that he would play together with his sister Safina at Hopman Cup on behalf of Russia. If he retires, he will break his promise. Very likely, we won't see that angry man who smashes his tennis racket on the court any more. But we will miss him.

KATRINA Points: Join Date: Nov 29, 2004 Status: Offline	I am sorry. Safin announced at his personal website that he just need time to have a rest. As for retiring, he hasn't decided. After his journey to Miami, he will tell us his decision. Maybe, we can see him again on the tennis court.
