Hainan Cholera Alert Removed: CNTA says Travel industry won،¯t be affected

The Cholera breakout in Hainan province, PRC during 18-27, Oct is rapidly responded to and an IV grade emergency is announced, according to reports from CNTA, the state governing body of travel industry. The report says also that the cholera is now under control and no severe cases are found — the travel industry in Hainan will not be affected this winter. Till now, no further infections are found in the province.


The report says that until 16:00 on 3, Nov., 2008, a total of 30 cases of cholera are reported (26 lab diagnosis and 4 suspected), 25 of the infected are now cured and 5 in treatment still. No death case is reported. A total of 297 other diarrhea cases are found and only 72 are still under treatment now.

The stricken city, Zhanzhou, has started reconstruction on water pipes and toilets in the infected areas.

Hainan province is carrying out a campaign against infectious diseases all over the province and no further cholera cases are reported except Zhanzhou, the report says.
