I am in the united states. I intend to hire someone to look in on my business in Qing Dao, but I'm not sure on the average hourly rate in Qing Dao. What is considered a decent wage (above worker wages)? Thankyou.

Depends on the job scope and the person's qualifications, doesn't it?!

A clerical worker in a Chinese company might earn around 1500 rmb a month. Better qualified and experienced earn more of course. So many variables in what you ask. What do you expect them to do? why not fill out a short requirements spec and put in TCG ads forum.

They will be checking in on a factory I work with to make sure the work is being done properly. The will be an infrequent task, which is why I asked what a good hourly rate would be, as opposed to a monthly salary.

So, based on the responseI've gotten on that messageboard, it breaks down like this. Typical clerical work nets- 1500 rmb/month Divided by 4 =375rmb/week Divided by 40 (hours)= 9.375rmb/hr 9.38 rmb is like 1 USD, correct? I don't think I can pay someone that in good conscience... any suggestions?

PJ, the only locals I know who work on an hourly rate are tour guides. Most have jobs that pay a monthly salary which account for the reason that work ethics are a little different here. I used to buy product from various factories in China and used a local agent to facilitate shipping and quality control inspections. The agent either did the QI himself or sent one of his people. The cost was inclusive and a fixed percentage of the order. You would need to find a person who is familiar with the production process of your product and be in possession of a finished sample to be able to compare with a production finished product. They will also need to be a good people person. You are right, one dollar an hour will not get you the right person. Cheers, Dodge
