The relationship between Chinese and South Korean are complicated. Chinese people, especially young Chinese guys (most are girls), love watching South Korean movies and TV series. They even imitate dressing and hair styles of South Koreans. However, they hate South Koreans at the same time. They call South Koreans "Culture Pirates". Why? They steal Dragon Boat Festival from China and claim acupuncture was invented by them. It is said that even ticket scalpers haven't sold Olympic tickets to South Koreans. South Korean media reported that Chinese audience just applaused for South Korea's opponents in the matches no matter whom South Korea played against.

However, Chinese people are afraid of South Koreans too. Do you know "Koreaphobia"? It is a word used to decribe Chinese men's national football team. Since 1978, Chinese men's national football team hasn't defeated South Korean men's national team yet in International A-class soccer matches. How strange it is!

What do you think of this phenomenon?

This is the same as the Japanese and Korean relationship. The Korean hate the Japanese because of their history but for some reason, Korea is following the same path as what the Japanese did. Both countries are into making cars, ships and various electronics. Even their subway systems are remarkably similar! The Koreans hate the Japanese and yet one of their most famous female singer Boa is living and working in Japan. The Japanese like Korean dramas as well and many Japanese women are enamoured of Korean men. Some are aggressively seeking Korean husbands. But there is something that we should point out here. On the general level, there is some distrust and some resentment still which is being fed by nationalistic propaganda. But on the individual level, people are getting along pretty well. There are actually Japanese and Koreans who are friends.
