![]() | News f rom Xinhua Newsagency, China revealed for the first time that nearly 20,000 students in Sichuan were killed in the 8.0-magnitude earthquake this May. "What I can tell you is that we have announced a death toll of 19,065 (students)," said Wei Hong, the vice governor of Sichuan at a briefing conference in Beijing. The number is only a temporary figure as the students death toll is still being checked. The 8.0-magnititude earthquake jolted Wenchuan on May 12th killed more than 69,000 people and left 374,000 injured, 18,000 missing and millions homeless. |
