264,000 Chinese contracted HIV/AIDS

According to China’s Ministry of Health, A total of 264,302 people in the country were reported to have contracted HIV. In the first nine months this year, 44,839 people living with HIV were found and 6,897 died of AIDS. Sexual transmission is the major channel to contracting virus. The spread of AIDS has slowed down in general. but is highly prevalent among specific groups such as migrant workers, and in remote areas and the countryside.
