Dandong North Korea border

guest21226 Hello, I want to go to go to Dandong to see the North Korean border in early January.
I understand you can do a speedboat tour to the riverbank on the North Korean side.
In early January, will the river be iced over ?
If it is, do they still do tours to the riverbank on sleds ?

The river won't be iced over, but I don't remember the existence of any boat tours to North Korea.

There are speedboat tours that drives fairly close to the North Korean shore. With a few extra yuan they can drive you little bit closer and longer..I visited in August 2008. What it is like in January I can't tell but if the river is not frozen I assume that the business still goes on.
