On December 5, a Village Committee re-election was held at a village of Xihuo Town, Changzhi County in Shanxi Province. Tens of well-armed riot police were deployed to maintain the order. The picture was posted on a Chinese webforum at rednet.com. Some of the web users doubted the credibility of the picture and the posts. The issue is part of China’s grassroots democracy. Any villagers can share the election procedure in their villages?
