Runenr Fan (Fan Meizhong) who ran away in the Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12th and left his pupils unprotected in the classroom got his new offer in teaching positions. He will teach humanity and art sujebts in a teaching instution in Beijing. It is also reported that Fan Meizhong will give a lecture on humanity and how to get enrolled by China’s prestigious Peking University. Runner Fan himself was graduated from the History Department of Peking University. Once the news was released, numerous people questioned if Fan Meizhong will be a qualified teacher. The head of Fan’s new employer said that he found Fan Meizhong is compentent in teaching. His running away behavior incurred the average Chinese’s rational reflection on the issues of morality and responsibility, which is the contribution Fan Meizhong has made to the progress of Chinese society. The president of the teaching institution also said that we should view a person in a all-round way and he blieve Fan will bring great benefits to his students. Suppose your children were studying in this school, would you like to let Fan Meizhong teach your children? Do you trust him?

I think there is nothing that would make a coward (well, perhaps a too strong word) to be bad teacher. In panic situations different people react differently. Had he stayed he would have been a hero, but would he then be a better teacher? Or perhaps he would now be a died teacher. Judging people is easy, especially for those who have not experienced same.
