As we all know there was an uprising in Tibet against Chinese occupation in March and tourism was stopped. I have always wanted to visit Tibet. Is it possible now? Will it ever be in the near future? Any special requirements or procedures?

I visited Tibet in April 2008, just one month after the unrest, and had good time there, I can answer some of your questions:
1. yes, foreigners are allowed to visit tibet right now
2. you will need a Chinese visa to get into china, then a special permission to visit tibet
3. There is no special requirement for gaining this special permission , but you will have to submit some documents for it
4.Since I am a chinese national, who's allowed to visit tibet without any permission, I have no idea how a foreigner can get access, you may ask the embassy for information
Hope these would help!
