XIAOGUI Points: Join Date: Sep 22, 2006 Status: Offline	You cannot buy land in China only Chinese citizens can "lease" land.You can purchase an apartment or should I say lease on a long term basis (usually 50 years)or however long the developer has leased it for.Property values here are outrageous at the moment and almost on par or above the U.S.If you are thinking of buying cheap..think again..Hawaii is cheaper!

My wife is Chinese so no problems with ownership of land.
I know the prices have sky rocketed recently but I think there is still space for capital gain if one buys the right property ona value for money basis.

This might be of some help to you ...http://sanyaexpat.com/index.php/2008/02/20/sanya_real_estate_review_part_iv_recent_?blog=1.... but $3000 U.S. a sq meter?...remember what I said about Hawaii...also taxes here on resale of property for the seller in China at the moment negate any profit.In other words you can't make any money in real estate here unless you are planning on being a property developer?If you are really interested in buying here my best advice would be to come here and check into it yourself..if your wife is Chinese, you should have no problems finding more info.But remember.."introductions" here are usually expensive..and the "old bait and switch" has been turned into an art.You shouldn't have to use an agent if you are familiar with buying property and every development has it's own sales office
