2009 is in the air! Happy New Year!

Looking back upon the dribs and drabs of the passing year, what is the most memorable thing on your mind? Do you have anything memorable related to China? As a Chinese national, I feel that 2008 is a memorable year for China. I still have the reminiscence of the incidents, (both catastrophes and blessings). In 2008, the Snow Havoc across the Southern China, “May 12th Wenchuan Earthquake”, “2008 Olympic Games”, all these big names have left their marks on the almanac of China 2008. Especially, the 8.0-magnitude Earthquake jolted Wenchuan on May 12th brought the whole nation into tears. Countless altruistic deeds moved us into tears. For the first time in my life, I have felt that this nation is still a land of promise, which is blessed with so many kind-hearted and conscientious countrymen. The magnificent Beijing Olympic Games realized Chinese’ century-old dream, and demonstrated the splendid Chinese culture of 5,000 years to the rest of the world. The gorgeous opening ceremony presented a panoramic view of China, its people, culture, and its dramatic change in decades. To sum up, 2008, Memorable China! What are the most memorable things for you? Are they related to China? New Year is coming! Happy New Year!

Yes, I think 2008 has been a year of China, in many ways, good and bad.

To me, June 1st is the day. It is the day my wife landed on Helsinki airport and long waiting was over.

The May 12th Earthquake is most painful memory. I hope 2009 is lucky year for China. I don't believe "8" is a lucky number any more.
