Could I get a long term visa if I employed Chinese people to run a website business?

If so,

How many Chinese would I have to employ and how long would the visa last?

Thanks

This is a specialist question and I think you should consult a visa agent or perhaps a lawyer. My undrstanding is that you will need to invest a considerable sum ie millions of rmb rather than thousands and as you say employ Chinese as well.

Why would I have to spend millions?
It is just a website needing a few people to start.

The Chinese government are not interested in foreigners opening small businesses for their own benefit. They want to encourage companies who will employ lots of Chinese. The amount they would like you to invest varies according to region. Approx US$500,000 Western, US$1,000,000 Central and US$2,000,000 coastal. Even then only the top brass would be considered for a visa.

And if you are operating a Chinese based website why would you need anything more than the nominal Business Visa.

Are you planning on living here in China.

Why does you website need Chinese staff??????

Can't you employ someone in your own country??????

Choochoo: as Gaffer says, the point is that China is not officially interested in small scale foreign businesses, that is why I mentioned the high investment. However, most areas accept foreigners operating through a Chinese. This means you need a good 'partner' in whose name it will be run...and who technically owns the business...so you would need to consider your investment security. As we have often noted before, you should be able to get a Business visa (F) bujt that still does not entitle you to be employed - though many people work on this visa andikt is usually tolerated by the authorities.

Almpost any business requires approval, especially if a foreigner is involved. This takes time and money, both officially and UNOFFICIALY, sums that oil the process. Make sure you allow for delays and have enough funds.
