| I travel this Thursday with the intention of staying for 3 weeks to try and find as much information I can about marrying my g/friend in the near future. Does anyone or can anyone should I say, give me any idea about where what and who I should contact for the best possible information? I am retired now but I would if the chance arose take a job, to keep busy and try my best to fit into the local area. Anything will be of help, i.e. best Visa next time I visit (this one is for 60 days) how easy is it to get a 12 mths. multi exit re-entry Visa etc. and what is the Law for expats who have already retired in the country of origin. I'm a retired Construction Engineer Engineering, from the Oil & Gas industry. I am willing to try my hand at any job available even for Chinese sales to European countries, or local work in the area. Any job is not too low in my estimation so I have no visions of grandeur, anything would do. Regards to anyone who has an answer. Bob K |

| I have met foreigners in Zhanjiang who are teaching English to the oil industry. I have no idea where to find out about such jobs, tho I have one contact who might know... I will ask. You should also consider checking out Maoming to the east as that is an oil industry city. As we've said elsewhere it is hard to get work inside China other than teaching, but make contacts and keep asking. Re yr other thread on expats in Zhanjiang, yes there are other Brits, and Americans. Check out the uni's...and if you do a search in here you will find one or two others I think. I'll be passing thru in about a month if you fancy a beer and some xiao kao... but I'm no longer a Pom, there is no chance of the Ashes leaving Aus this century! |
