The British Museum houses a vast collection of artifacts from different regions of the world. Britain acquired the collection through various means: purchase at the auction, donation and robbery. As for most of the artifacts from China, they were acquired by shady means. In 2006, there was a strong urge for Britain to return some rare artifacts to China among Chinese nationals.

A few months ago I was actually guarding this collection although it was in crates waiting to go to the museum from The Sir David Percival Foundation, I know one of the exhibits was said to be worth something like 60 million pounds, shame I couldn't sneak it out in my bag! he he Alan

This is the ruins of Royal court of Five Dynaties- Yuan Ming Yuan, a model of world's garden and an Oriental Palace more elegant than Place of Versailles. Numerous priceless treasures were robbed and moved to British Musuem before it's burnt down. I am wondering how british history text describes this event - Set Fire on Yuan Ming Yuan that happened in Qing Dynasty when China was ruled under Minority- Man - one branch of Mongolia.

Marrie, Yuan Ming Yuan is the Royal court of Five Dynaties? I have always been told that it was built in the Qing Dynasty. The Empress Cixi ordered to build the garden.

I could be wrong. I heard this royal summer palace started to be built before Qing dynasty and reached its brightness as No. 1 world garden during late weak Qing dynasty. It's a symbol of humiliation for us. I am wondering when the treasures will be back home.
