guest37531 I have an American passport; I was a student at Shanghai last semester with the stduent visa issued by one University. For the next semester I am transferring to another University in Beiking- whats the proceduce to maintain my student visa? Will the first University cancel my visa as soon as I submit my resignation? Thanks

You used the word 'transfer' then the word 'resignation'. These seem inconsistent. Anyway...

If the uni's co-operate and permit a transfer, they should handle the necessary paperwork. If not, ask the new one what you should do. Based on discussions with students who have quit, I don't think your current uni will try to have yr visa cancelled and the new uni may just say to do nothing until it is due to expire.

GUESTCAMEROON hi. i am a cameroonian student in china. i decided to change my university after finishing this semester. my innitial student visa was due to expire on the 20th of january, and my new school couldn't do the processing of the admission before then. so i applied for a 30 day l visa, but was issued only a 10 day l visa, which expires on the 31st of january 2008. due to the chinese new year, my new university and the shanghai exit entry bureau are all on holidays, and will reopen only after the 31st jan, and by then, my visa will already be expired. what can i do? please ur advise will be highly appreciated
