![]() | Lack of rainfall and snowfall in winter has led to severe drought in northern China. Wheat production is under threat. Over 140 million mu (9.3 million hectares) of wheat are being affected, the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) said on Tuesday. In most parts of northern China, there were little rainfall or snowfall since last October. Wheat is the main winter crop in northern China. Six major wheat production provinces including Henan, Anhui, Shandong, Shanxi, Gansu and Shaanxi were affected by drought. 43% of the winter crop has been affected. According to China Meteorological Administration, there is little possibility of rainfall in the next ten days. I am concerned about my father's crop. There has been a financial crisis. We don't want to see a food crisis. Wheat is turning yellow due to drought. ![]() |
