Is there any difference between 想 and 觉得?
Feb 4, 2009 02:04
guestnana I came across two sentences:

1. 我觉得你是对的。
2. 我想你是对的。

To my understanding, they both mean the same thing "I think you are right." Am I right? If so, what is the difference between 想 and 觉得? Are they synonyms?

Thanks in advance.

我觉得你是对的 means: I "feel" you are right. Both sentances have exactly the same meaning.

想,推测,认为,觉得,they are synonyms in the following circumtances:
"想" means: think, speculate, consider, suppose, and "觉得" means: feel like.

我觉得=i think
“我觉得” originated from a TV host's translation of "i think" in 1990s and prevails now.
If you want to express the mean of "i think",use "我觉得".
我想=i guess
You can use "我想" when you want to express "i guess".

“我觉得你是对的”means "in my opinion you are right".
“我想你是对的”means "i dont know the right answer ,maybe you are right".
