I appologise in advance if this question has already been answered, but I scrolled through and couldn't find the answer.
I am in Beijing and my 60 day limit per entry will expire soon (my visa itself does not expire until June). I am planning on returning to my own country less than two weeks after the 60 day limit and plan on coming back to China 16 days later. Is it possible to extend the stay past 60 days without having to get a new visa? Who do I need to talk to in order to save myself the money and hassle of running down to HK? Many thanks!!

No, you cannot get such an extension.

As you suggested, you could go to the local office and ask for a new visa. This is likely to be for 1 month and it cancels your existing visa so you will need to apply for anpother visa when you get home.

As you are in Beijing, how about a trip to S Korea or Mongolia?

Apault,
I appreciate the info. I was told by some friends the other day that it was possible to get such an extention for a month, but what they were describing was getting a new visa. Thank you for the clarification.
Mongolia sounds tempting...
