![]() | Jeremy, all weddings in China are performed as a civil wedding.. No witnesses, no vows, no holding hand, no “you may now kiss the Bride” stuff: just a checking of documents. Very similar to registering a car really. The real wedding is celebrated at a dinner, some short time after, were friends and family gather to give speeches and hopefully also give presents. Australian/Chinese who hold an Australian passport are warned not to use any Chinese documents that they may still have while traveling in China. I would think that the same warning may well be given to Canadian Chinese. So if you fiancé did apply at her once place of residence to get married there may be a problem. I suggest that you contact your consulate first in Canada to have their opinion on the matter. Cheers, Dodger. |
