a full day at Chengdu
Feb 10, 2009 18:13
guestJo I would like to spend one full day at Chengdu this summer. I plan to visit the Pandra Research and the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. What other places I can visit to fill my day?
I would like to pack in as much as I can.

GUEST64793 Each of these places takes about 2 hours or more (depending on traffic) to get to from downtown, plus 2 hours return.Panda park takes about 2 hrs to walk around as does the irrigstion project.Throw in an 1hr for lunch and i'd say that is pretty much your day done!

How long does it take to get from Chengdu to Wolong Panda Reserve. Also, how long would it take to get from Chengdu to Mt.Emei.
Will our hotel be able to help us to arrange a driver to take us to each? And any idea how much the driver and car would cost?
Thanks.

GUEST43239 Panda-about 1hr 30 min to 2 hrs (city bus/park shuttle bus-20 CNY)...Mt. Emie-about 2 and a half hrs (express bus-100 CNY).You will have to stay overnight in Emie if you dont catch the early bus.Hotel will rip you off..best to do it on your own.Check city bus schedule and south intercity bus station (there are 2)...an English to Chinese translation handbook/reference guide should get you sorted if you can't speak the lingo.

Wolong Panda Reserve had been moved to somewhere else (don't recall the name now) after the May 12th earthquake last year.
Emeishan is usually done as an overnight trip from Chengdu, daytripping it would be very rushed.
I would also suggest Sanxingdui Museum, but I don't think you'd have any more daylight time after visiting the Chengdu Panda Reserve and Dujiangyan. Perhaps try to fit in a Sichuan opera performance, and Jinli old street.

GUESTWHITNEY i will be free at that time, but i suggest you come in early summer `coz it will be unbearable hot in july.
only a day is too limited that may be you donnot have enough time to visit and the rebuilding of dujiangyan will be carry on, so ```may be you wonot see the original view. if you shall have further questions, feel free to contact me.:)

GUESTGUESTJO Where can I get a block by block map of Chengdu? New York city's China Travel does not have any.

In respond to TOMCANADA, travelchinaguide.com can arrange a private English-speaking guide and transportation for you to see the Panda Reserve and Mt. Emei. I had used TCG 3 years ago and am using their services again. They are very receptive and accommodating to their customers' needs.
