ok! say, how many people got married or thought about getting married for reasons other than love? such as family pressure, religion or simply thought they were getting old and feeling biological clock ticking away?? I know some people who got married because they were lonely and simply got on first love bus that came along and ended up being absolutely miserable..

I bet there would be many. I know there're lots of people living in the poor area, villiages, etc, get married because they are old enough and their family think they should get married. And some get married because of the wealthy background of the partner's family or things like that. Sometimes people have no choice. So be careful and patient enough if you have the choice.

Why take a sandwhich to a smorgasbord? Why buy a book when the library is available?

Take a sandwich because you are allergic to other food? or maybe, your mum made it for you with love and care?? buy a book because you want to keep it for long time? or maybe, germaphobic who doesn't like things that have been handled my lot of people? who knows?? truth is out there somewhere..

I am not allergic to any food so confining myself to a snack when a banquet is on offer is an unnecessary deprivation. I have even been know to discard lovingly prepared sandwhiches when a more exotic meal was offered. However I am vegetarian so I am very selective. Smorgasbords offer far more choice and nutritional value than a sandwhich. In short, smorgasbords are satisfying but sandwhiches are bland.

Once a book is read, it's read. I see no point in ownership of a book when rental is an option. I do not need to possess a book to enjoy reading it. I have no interest in pristine books and no aversion to second hand reading material.

To each his own.

Funny thing is; I know a guy who lives in Sydney and he walks about 1 hour to shop at Edgecliff and he walks from CBD. Reason? he saves about 15cents for 2 cans of pea soup!

Moral of this story? everything depends on each persons personal value. Something we all forget every now and then.. value..

Everyone is different. Do whatever makes you happy providing it doesn't hurt anyone else.

Here's my answer. In China, if you want to take a quick meal, the easiest clean place you could find is KFC. To take the hamburg is safer than take some snacks from the stall. A smorgasbord? Some Chinese could eat too many things and they think to take smorgasbord is cheaper and they like to profit at others expense. But to me, I agree with you Bob.
To buy a book? In China most of the libraries have few seats and more people. What worst, there are only old books, too old with thick dusk on the cover. I consider reading a book an enjoyable thing with a cup of tea, a comfortable sofa and a cozy light. So I won't go to a crowded library reading some ancient book...

Ha ha. You are so funny HERBEAT. The smorgasbord and the library were just metaphors. The stories were analogies and not intended to be taken literally. However thanks for your advice about snacks and books.

SUKUKI understood my meaning. I'm sure if you ask, he will explain it to you.

Exactly. You can marry anybody if you like. The premise is that he/she/it is willing to marry you. You needn't care about what other people talk about.
