| Hi! We are from Indonesia and would like to know whether anyone has info on giving birth in Shenzhen or Guangzhou. We really would appreciate if those who has experience of some sort may give us valuable information regarding : 1)Price of natural birth with hospital stay in a regconized hospital 2)Cost of living for 2 months (2ppl and a baby) 3)Which visa must i apply for? 4)Would the baby be eligible for permanent resident status? 5)Would my baby have a birth certificate from china? 6)Any good hospitals to recommend us? Thanks a million |

| If neitherb apernt is a citizen of China the child will not have residency status. As a foreigner just visiting I think you would have to stay in arivate hospital. What friends have told me, you should expect near western prices. I don't think you would want to ujse a governemnt hospital unless you are used to China and have langauge skills or a translator available at all times and accept that hygene standards are lower than western countries, and have researched the different medical attitudes. (I have used three dentists and have not managed to persuade one to use local anaesthetic). Cost of living for 2 ppl depends on your standards. Although I pay 60 to 80rmb for hotels, you would probably want to pay at least 250 or more rmb a night. Food is cheap, so are taxis. These costs are likely to be moderate compared with the health care in a private hospital. In Guangzhou there is a women's hospital by Fangcun metro station which I know some Ch friends have used. I can probably get u details if you need them. (PM me) Guan |
