My wife tells me that the PLA is very selective and being in the military has always been considered a good job.
Does someone just walk up to the guard at a military base and ask to join? How does someone apply?
In the U.S. small shops are rented to military recruiters in towns and usually all services (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines) are in the same storefront. Interested persons can just walk in and talk with recruiters.
Does the PLA advertise?

Yinduffy, strange name. As far as I have known, students from military aviation institute, military tech institute, military political institute and military medical institute are highly selective high school grads.

The PLA also recruit college students. In a peaceful age, joining the army is a good choice. The salaries in the Army have been raised greatly recently. It is indeed a good job.
