My friends say this phrase sometimes and I think it is very funny and want to share it with you. Here is it: "脑袋被驴踢了(Nao 3 Dai 4 Bei 4 Lv 2 Gei 3 Ti 1 Le)?" It means "Have your head been kicked by an ass?" literally. As for real meaning, it is similar to "Is there anything wrong with your brain?"

is the 'gei3' supposed to be there?

well, yes, gei3 is supposed to be there, because gei3 is a Auxiliary Word used to passive voice, in this situation, brain is definitely kicked by an ass.
