A turkey was chatting with a bull.
"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the
turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull.
"They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him
enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.
The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of
the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out
of the tree.
Moral of story:
Bull $hit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Dodger, Chinese saying" Shoot the bird that takes the lead" and " Standing on high place will have "friends" alienate from you and suffer from coldness.

From a broadenced perspective, this is Chinese slick theory that 'kills' creatiivity , encourage ease/laziness and let you get used to kneeling down for a live like a dog instead of standing for a living like a human.

it depends on how you intrepret the chinese saying marrie. i would view it as a good reminder to remain crafty and shrewd. this world is vicious and it's best to remain under the radar until youre strong enough to take anyone head on. its a very chinese thing..hehe

What I try to say is Dodger's stories are from casual thinking but they are full of life wisdom. This reminds of the Islamic lessons posted by PRIMROSE and the topic initiated by SETH.

If you allow me develop your theme further, i want to say that social order makes a line between superoity and inferiority. If somebody dares to pose danger the established association, cleaning will start, which was listed the other phase of Chinese 5000 yr history.

Hiding your light seems applicable everywhere and in any era.

Marrie, thank you for your insight into Chinese culture and thinking.
In Oz it’s called the “tall poppy’ syndrome. If they get too big, cut them down.
