Greetings from Tianjin,

I recently got married in Tianjin and would like to get my L visa extended. Is there any type of visa extensions for for foreigners who marry a chinese citizen. I would like to stay in China with my wife and eventually move and find employment, but first I need to get the extension on my visa that is about to expire. Not sure if it is true are not, but I have heard you can get a extension on your L visa after you marry at the PBS in the same city.

Any help would be greatly apperciated.

Thank you

GUESTDADS Hello WYTARS.
Sorry, not bringing any reply to your post, but joining you in the same situation.
I'm on a F Visa that will expire soon, and i married my Chinese girlfriend 3 months ago. And I'd like to ask for L visa to stay with my wife and enjoy life, no job is intended. Possible ?
I heard F visa can't be changed into L unless you leave the mainland.
So. If anybody would have ideas that can help ?
Thanks in advance.

GUESTKIM Yes you can use them to write checks get cash etc. BUT it is a huge mitksae!Rip the checks up ASAP they give you 6 months with 0% interest but charge you a fee to cash the check and they know you can't pay it all off in 6 months. They will get thier money from you don't fall into this credit trap!Live debt free! It is a wonderful feeling.

GUESTMAHBUBU... Yes, you can marry a German citizen as a tiusort I was in Germany on vacation in August 98 and married a German citizen in Nov 98. I was granted temporary residence and permanent work permit. With a temporary residence, you must report to the Auslandersbehoerde' with proof that you are still married; after the first year and then again after two years. I was granted permanent residence after three years of residing in Germany. The only problem is the paper work make sure you have all the necessary documents ie; birth certificate (which must be certified by the German Consulate or Embassy in your home country cost circa 20 Canadian dollars), if you've been married and divorced you'll have to have a divorce certificate that must be translated into German by a state approved translator this will cost you about 100 Euro. Unfortunately, I can't remember all the documents you'll have to provide. It would be a good idea to check with the German Consulate or Embassy and get all the details. Once you have all the required documents (Must be translated into German by a state approved translator), you will have to go to the Standesamt and submit the paper work, if anything is missing, they tell you what you need (we made four trips to the Standesamt before everything was finished). Once everything is done you'll make an appointment to get married, choose your Buch die Familie'. If you are from a country that German is not the official language you be appointed a translator at the marriage ceremony. Oh, and seeing this is Germany everything costs money the ceremony, the Standesamt official, the translator, the family book and the room you are married in (costs for light and heating are included in the room fee). You can also get married in a church which is even more complicated, a church wedding is not legal, once your married in the Standesamt you can have a church marriage. I'm not sure if you can have a church wedding before the marriage at the Standesamt.Remember, you are only allowed to stay in Germany for a maximum of three months with out a visa. To get a 6 month visa, you'll have to apply for it before you travel to Germany.
