After hearing that yogurt was not only really good for her health but also a beauty aid, Professor Wang placed an order every month for a daily drink.

One day she received a notice to attend a two day meeting in Shanghai. Before she left, she stuck a note on her front door for the milk man. It said,

‘Milkman:
For the next two days there will be no-one home, please don’t leave anything.’

The note was signed the ‘Occupant’ and dated 8.00 am on the 8th March

Two days later, Professor Wang returned home to discover her front door wide open. She exclaimed, ‘Oh no!’ One glance inside and she could see that her TV, fridge, computer and washing machine had all been stolen.

On the living room table was a note which said,
‘Thanks, We haven’t leave anything!’

Humour is just one way to understand a culture so as a language learning exercise I have translated some of the jokes from my Chinese Language Learning Course books.

Enjoy a laugh with me.

NB March 8th incidentally is International Women's Day
