Hi, Is Cantonese the main or widely used dialect in Shenzhen? Are there available english to chinese translation plus pronunciation dictionaries that I can buy in Shenzhen?
Thanks.

HI, Escort:
Yes, Cantonese is widely used in Shenzhen, but in the urban city Mandarin (pu tong hua) is still the universal language.
For the electronic dictionary, the Chinese to English version is very popular in China now, and I guess you could try big department stores or some electronic products markets for the E to C version.

i beg to disagree with Dee.
Cantonese is not so widely used in Shenzhen, a migrant city.U can live comfortably without knowing a word of Cantonese.
It is widely used in Canton(Guangzhou) but u dont have to worry about it for everyone can speak some pu tong hua though not that perfect.
