Some people think that elite are those rich people, high government officials or professors, but there is another definition for elite on the internet recently, that is elite are those who go beyond one's own interests in doing sth. what do you think of it?

I think professors, experts,engineers, scientists, historians and politicians are elite.

Elite refers to those people with special skills, who does great contributions in his field.
