Hi people, congratulations on a very good and informative site.

I plan to take three weeks holiday by myself in China in the next month or so.

I have never been there before, nor do I speak the language. I am 56 years old, single, healthy and male,. I am open to all suggestions, like should I get a guide etc.

Can anyone suggest where I should start my journey from and where I should travel to during my stay. I would be grateful if you could mention the places to avoid.

I have traveled the world many times but never through Asia and I'm really looking forward to it.

Thank you in advance

Hi SAFELEE,
If it is the first time to China, you'd better have a guide and you could start from the capital city Beijing, the economic center Shanghai or the beautiful Hongkong. Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guilin, Xi'an and Sanya are must-see places when travelling China.

Have a good trip!

There're a number of recommendations for private guides in cities like Beijing etc, on the TripAdvisor China forums.
Do you already have your flight tickets to China? If you want further help with itinerary planning and such, email me at yahoo.com|ellyse99 and put "TravelChinaGuide" and your own username (eg SafeLee) in the subject line, thanks.
