visa for beijing

Hi could anyone tell me if we need a visit for an overnight stay (less than 48 hours) for Beijing. We arrive one day and want to have a look around and leave the next day. I have a German passport but I'am a Australian perm. resident, my partner has an Australian passport.

I should think you will both need a visa if you intend to stay overnight. But why are you even bothering to stop for such a short visit???????????

Check with your travel agent or the Chinese Consulate in the capital of whichever State you are currently living to be sure you are not disappointed on arrival
