From Lijiang to Guilin in one day?

Let me start by saying that after having taken a look at some of the threads here, I'm amazed by the wonderfully helpful and friendly replies. I hope my question will meet with the same reactions:). I wondered if it is possible to leave Lijiang in the morning and arrive in Guilin in the evening. We were planning on taking a BUS to Kunming in the morning (I heard that'd take about ten hours), so maybe we'll have to leave at about 6. Once we're in Kunming we'd like to take the night TRAIN (leaving at 17;30 or 18.00) to Guilin. Do you think this is a feasible plan? Can you give me some other advice? Thanks a lot! Gillis.

ELLYSE Points: Join Date: Oct 30, 2005 Status: Offline	Arrive in Guilin in the evening of the same day? You would have to aim for the latest Kunming -- Guilin train at 1823, and you would only arrive past midday on the next day. If you really want to do Lijiang -- Guilin in 1 day, the only possibility would be to fly Lijiang -- Kunming and then Kunming -- Guilin.

JABAROOTOO Points: Join Date: Jul 4, 2005 Status: Offline	Alternatively if you really want to take the train try getting it from Dali via Kunming to Guilin but flying is by far the only way to do it in a day.
