![]() | Does anyone have experience of applying for a visitor visa to come to UK for 2 week holiday. I have checked my countries immigration website and it seems simple but my Chinese fiance has been told by an agency that they want the ins and outs of my life. I was expecting invitation letter and proof of where we will be and what we will do, she has been told they need a copy of every page of my passport, bank statements for last 6 months and proof of my employment. |

What they want to see is that you can support her or she can support herself for that period without recourse to state benefit. Then there is the thorny issue of not returning home. She might also have to prove that she fully intends to return to China at or before the expiration of the visa because she has reasonable funds in a Chinese bank, owns property in China and/or has a letter from her employer stating that her job remains open for her return. Unfortunately there are many single females wishing to move to the UK (and other western countries) permanently for a better life, and you have to prove that she isn't one of them. |

![]() | She has a reasonable amount of savings but doesnt own her home or have a car. She has very well paid job and they have supplied letter to say when she can have 2 weeks and when they expect her back to work. I presume it all comes down to how I word the invitation letter then. We are going to marry in Hubei in february so I suppose I could always mention that. |

![]() | Dave, I spent two weeks in London last January and brought my Wife with me.. I thought it might be difficult because of the obvious reasons but she was granted a six month visitors visa in a couple of days. What I didn’t do was mention that we would be visiting and staying with my son. That would have turned it into a family reunion visa and much more complicated. I did include a covering letter to say that I would take full responsibly etc. She’s self employed but got a mate to write a letter and also included a bank statement (pity the amount wasn’t true) The UK consulate in Beijing was more than helpful. Cheers, Dodger. |
