Proper swim attire in China...
Jun 18, 2009 00:09
guest48237 I'm an American male traveling to China this July. I'll be in some coastal areas, and was wondering what proper swim attire is for men. Generally I wear speedos/ short trunks, well above my knee, and , similar to what's worn in Europe, is that common, or proper in China?

Well, you might feel a little exposed in your speedos. Definitely wear your 'board' shorts no matter if they are the shorter version.

Chinese men where some pretty unflattering lycra shorts akin to baggy bike pants and the choices for women are even worse.

Anyway that is my opinion from the 'land downunder' where swimwear is everyday wear. These days I wear a 'tankini'. That's a modest two piece which covers the tummy and affords me a chance to get a bikini tan when I don't feel like I have too big an audience.
