My daughter and I would like to volunteer at the Wolong Reserve to observe and learn about pandas. Has anyone done this? Thank you. Beckie

We did this last year in may and it was great.
In the morning I 'supervised' the volunteering of my 7 years old daughter (and enjoyed it as well!) and in the afternoon my husband took my place.
We had to use a guide to make all the arrangements (and translations) but we sent her back to the hotel as soon as we got in.
We had a 4 day trip, day 1 travel to Chengdu and Wolong and visit the breeding station in the afternoon, day 2 volunteering, day 3 walking in the real reserve with the guide (don't expect to see any panda's here) and more watching the baby-panda's in the breeding station, day 4 back home after a last visit to the breeding station.
The hotel near the station (like 100 meters from the entrance) is not that great, but we only used it to sleep and shower. The food is really bad, so buy fruit and breakfast in Chengdu before you go to Wolong.
Your daughter can play with the baby-panda's for an extra 500 RMB. This is really something you must do. Officialy it's just for 5 minutes, but it was more like 10 minutes. And again, one parent is allowed to escort the child for taking pictures. The other parent can see everything outside.
