South Carolina Governor admits extramarital affair

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford admitted yesterday that he has been having an extramarital affair at a press conference after his four-day disappearance.

“I have been unfaithful to my wife; I developed a relationship with what started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina”. Sanford said that he has been on a trip to Argentina during the four days of disappearance last week, not hiking on the Appalachian Trail as his staff originally said.

The 49-year-old governor revealed that he met the Argentinian woman eight years ago and started the romantic relationship one year ago. His wife and family were aware of his affair five months ago.

Another prominent Repubican Senator John Ensign of Nevada also apolized to his Republican Senate colleagues for his affair.

(Conclusion: Men with power and money are prone to having extramarital affairs. When men have power in hand, it is likely to be abused)

Mark Sanford "sincerely" wipes his eyes as he admits an extramarital affair at the State House in Columbia, June 24, 2009.

GUEST8251 He should be ashamed of his affair. He was not qualified to be a public servant. South Carolina people urged him to die resign.

It seems that US politicians are prone to " Mid-life Crisis" . Clinton, Spitzer, Sanford, John Ensign are reported to having extramarital affairs in their mid-life. (around their 50s). The extramarital affairs jeopardize their political career. Sanford and Ensign are two "promising stars" of Republicans. Both of them are very likely to run for the next President of USA in 2016. Republicans has always given prominence to "Family Value", and has been very conservative on the soical issue of marriage and religious belief. Obviously, the two Republican political celebs do harm to the Republican's political image. After the report of their extramarital affairs, there is no hope for them. The successive report of republicans' scandal also give a heavy blow on the Republican's endeavor to win over Democrats in the next Presidential Campaign.

Only dominant bucks get does. It is that simple. To rise to prominence in any field requires a man (leaving women out of this equation) to be a dominant buck. Fortunately (???) for human males, human females are fertile more frequently than most other mammals so that less dominant males can get a (less desirable) female and breed. The long and short of this is that dominant males want to breed more females and females desire dominant males. Even humans cannot completely evade basic biology.

The bottom line is that this has nothing to do with the man's competence other than to say he got caught. Leaders, by definition, must be dominant.

''The long and short of this is that dominant males want to breed more females and females desire dominant males.''

It sounds like you are the boss who employs much more females than males. From my oberservation, such kind of 'dominant men' who concentrates on the abosolute control over women is pretty weak and is easy to be trampled over more dominant men because of the loss of real individual vision of career.
