I am an American looking to move to china to live. Travel cost and preparations are not my problem. Finding work is. I am willing to pay for my own visa but I cant seem to find any jobs for me. Aside from teaching jobs nothing. If anyone can please help me out.

The only jobs open to foreigners in China are for those with "Special Skills". Which means skills not readily available within China's working population. Chinese companies have to be approved to recruit foreigners and can then only fill vacancies which cannot be filled locally. For native English speakers with a degree, TEFL qualification (or equivalent) and some experience in teaching, there are lots of jobs available. There are teaching jobs for the less qualified but at lower pay rates and conditions. China has a massive pool of well qualified graduates to fill almost any other occupation.
